Does anyone have one or more drill templates for a 1590 enclosure to share ?
I'm after both a standard 3 knob, 1 switch layout and a tilted (sideways) 6 knob layout for Dr. Boogey etc.

Search for "Drill Template" and you'll get a few.
There was just a thread about them.
You will need some editing software to get them just as you like though...

I did a search and found a thread yes, but there was only 404's all the way...
I'll look further.

125B, 1590B, 1590BB, 1590C and 1590NI. None of these are my work; they came from a thread on this forum.

Hey Andrew, those are really great drilling templates. Would you mind if I used some of your art for my own drilling template? I have some PCBs that I made up to fit the 1590B sized boxes. http://www.super-freq.com/?page_id=2

I have been working on a drilling template to match the layout of jacks on my PCB.

Oh my. Those etched enclosures of yours are simply to die for!

soggybag: sorry dude, I didn't draw any of them so I can't give permission to use them :( They all came from a recent thread on this forum; one which I can't seem to find by searching.

These came from me. I've sent this link out to several PMs.

But R.G. must get the full credit. His "paper drill template" has been up for quite awhile.

How I created them...
I downloaded the 2D drawing of the Hammond enclosure in a PDF file from the website.
http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg.htm

I used Adobe illustrator to edit and scale the drawing to a 1:1 scale.
Fortunately the small size of our favorite enclosures allows it to fit on an sheet of 8x11 paper.

Some of the component icons, like the battery, came from RG's original template.
Other parts went through the same process as the enclosure PDF drawing.
I downloaded the PDF of the Alpha 12mm pots from their website, and edited them to a 1:1 scale.
Same for the toggle switch

What is cool about laying it out in a vector graphic application is that I can plan out ahead of time
the component placement, control placement, and artwork all in one file.

By placing parts on two axises, in the plan view and side view I can tell if parts will fit.
Check out this pic. Its side view is showing me I have about 1mm of clearance between the bottom of the pot and the top of the DC jack. The finished pedal fit exactly like the drawing.

As far as I know there are several apps that will allow you to open a PDF to access the vector art and edit it.
Illustarator is one, Corel Draw is another.

Alright, I know few folks want to start learning Illustrator or Corel.
So I whipped up a 1590B with "standard" three pot layout and added it to my collection.

Enjoy.

Not sure how one would go about getting the six pot sideways layout?
12mm pots perhaps?

You could also just tape some graph paper on the box. :icon_rolleyes:

That's OK, I have my own template that I created in Illustrator. It's just not as fancy.
