9 volts

Hey there, I bought an old japanese transistor tester (rapar tr-1) on the weekend. Just wondering if anyone can advice me or point to a website on using it correctly. It has a npn/pnp switch, an ico switch(a&B), general, adjust and high power switch and a diode tester. I've used Rg's method in the past to find out the hfe and leakage. Is 'a' the hfe? I've got a basic manual which tells how to adjust it. Thanks in advance!

(been reading)
a=for common base small signal forward current transfer ratio (hfb)
B= common emitter forward current ration (hfe)
Can I determine transistor leakage from these?
