switching between two inputs

i would like to be able to switch between two inputs in my box from a footswitch.

one input would be a 1/4" and the other would be the output of a signal generator type deal. 

what is the best way to wire this?

  Simple SpDt
  pole in the middle goes to output
  the switch decides which input wire gets connected.
  I'd use a jack for the input, [and one for the SG input], but as long as the inputs and outputs have a common ground, the method of connections doesn't matter.
