I found that as part of a bench power supply I'd like to build. Would connecting that to, for instance, a 12v general purpose wall wart suffice? I just want to not have to use batteries and I'd rather not spend a bunch of money on a retail bench power supply.

You need a glade plug-in, in on a footswitch.  Kick on the big muff, then hit the air freshener pedal.

You have to decide how much current you think you will need.

The text says.

> Imax =1.5 / (Vin - Vout)

15V in and 5V out means only 150mA  At 10V in you will geyt about 300mA out.

Probably good enough for small stuff.

If you want variable you have to remove the trimpot and replace it with a pot.

It will probably do the job but really you could just as well build your own with off the shelf parts (it's a basic LM317 circuit)

Check out MCM electronics.
I buy parts and tools etc. from them and they regularly blow out stuff dirt cheap.
I got a nice little power supply for $12.
1v to 12v in stepped increments of 3v that puts out 2A.
Or I'd look into buying a good bench supply used at a hamfest etc.
That stuff is cheap now.

Thanks!
I'm still looking at my options. :)
