mini diode-tremolo schem?

A while ago, someone posted an ultra-simple tremoolo schem which consisted of a diode and a cap, if I remember correctly but I can't find it. Can anyone point it out to me or at least guess how it was wired up?

I know it`s not a tremolo but is it possible you were thinking of this?

Nope, it was a link to a page with a schem, no sound clip as I remember.

The simplest tremolo I can remember is the Negistrem....but its slightly more complicated than a cap and diode :)

...maybe with a voltage divider between two caps (low value and higher value) to control the 'flash rate'...

It's the start of an optical tremolo...

Another pot to control the amount of guitar signal going to the LDR and you're laughing...

Or am I just being too simplistic?

Something that LOOKS like a simple oscillator, is the neon tube relaxation oscillator (because, the neon tube is drawn like a cap with a ring around it).
Mind you, it has to be driven by 90V or more. http://www.oberlin.edu/physics/catalog/demonstrations/em/neonosc.html
But, once you DO have your neon oscillator, all you need to do us use the flash to illuminate a LDR in a simple voltage divider.

Again, not a tremolo but possibly the basis of one. Too many components aswell.

That looks like the one I remember. Don't know why i remembered it being a tremolo though...

[EDIT] Oh well, I guess I automatically imagined an LDR into the circuit. :icon_lol:

Still, that could be a really good basis for an easy tremolo.  I have like a million 2N2222s laying around, I'll see what comes of it.

Interesting and ironic, Oberlin college is about a half hour from me :D

I want to try that LED flasher though, sounds like a good basis.

You need a glade plug-in, in on a footswitch.  Kick on the big muff, then hit the air freshener pedal.

Hmm, can't seem to get the led flasher to work... used a 2N2222, 300uF and 9V, could this be the reason?

Same with me. The LED went on, but it would not flash. I think I used a 420uf with a 9v. It didn't work.

Hmm, I used 300uF, you used 420uF... mine is off and yours is on.

The answer is too obvious. :icon_mrgreen:

So that capacitor value is a little more important than we thought! I'll see if I can get a 330uf. But I'm surprised that yours wouldnt go on at all! That isnt even that far value wise.
