Too Much Swing?

Hello all!

I'm currently designing a overdrive/distortion around the 2N5089 and I have two with gain of about 250-300 each leading to Ge hard clipping.
Now, the voltage swing is about 4.7V each way and I am not satisfied with the amount of distortion that I'm getting from the circuit.  There is, however, a good amount of boost.
Is this a case of too much swing not allowing the transistor to clip the signal?

whoops!!! well, the first problem is I did the math epically wrong.  I also now know the answer so ignore this.
