I hope that the availability of the kit and board encourages more people to build one. The relatively high price of the kit reflects the fact that, for the first time, I will be offering a product through dealers and so have to charge enough to support them. So advanced builders who don't need technical support can save some money by ordering pieces and building from available stock.

To anticipate a question or two:

Small Bear's focus on supplying components, as opposed to kits or pedals, will not change. I do not intend to compete with GGG/BYOC/Tonepad, etc., and can't, really; the demand for well-made and carefully kitted copies/mods of popular classic designs has become so insanely broad and deep that it's a good thing that there are several good suppliers feeding it; I have my paws full just being an enabler. That said, being able to offer fully-realized, PC board-based kits of bearishly-interesting "just a little different" designs like this one, is the fruition of the idea I started SBE with back when. In coming months/years, I figure to go back and do boards for the Trem and the Bear Face, maybe making time if I can for experiments with compressors, octaves, delays, etc. Bears wanna have fun, too, ya know?

I was wondering when you were going to offer Pc boards for your projects. They look really interesting- Im just not fond of perf anymore. Now if you can just offer different colors forhttp://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=103 Such as Frantone effects has on his pedals. www.frantone.com

Whatcha think Steve? Think you can do these knobs? I bet they would be wildly popular.

Jim--

I will ask their rep about this at some point. No promises, because of issues with storage space and other spending priorities. Thanks for asking!

Interesting design. I like the board layout, and it sounds like it does the Rangemaster things well. :)
