I need another set of eyes to make sure I have done this correctly.

volume is the other way around
pin 3 should be where pin 1 is and vice versa (pin 2 is right)
all output volume pots are always 3 (in) 2 (out) 1 (ground)
diodes are wrong, try moving them to the right (that means youll need to have 9 holes) so there is a space between c3 and the diodes (just down to that jumper to ground at E3)
then connecting them to ground (not the 9v)
then putting volume pin 3 between c3 and the diodes

Im using the schematic in the upper right corner. Is this schematic wrong?

That makes more sense. I do believe the one I was using is flawed. I think this is right.

put the volume 3 between c3 and the diodes
the way you have it is as it if was like this

this actually looks more correct for output clipping...

the way phillip's shows in the schem you posted means that the diodes do nothing because you have already tapped off the output before any signal ever meets them. this altered example you posted that i quoted is actually the correct orientation of the parts.

why would ELECTRO HARMONIX put them there if they did NOTHING

It shouldn`t make any difference, in this case, whether lug 3 of the volume pot is situated before or after the diodes. Both are correct. Look at the way the diodes have been implemented in the original.

That should explain it better than I could ever hope to.

Whether the pot comes "before" or "after" the clipping diodes makes no difference whatsoever. They're still shunting signal to ground.

Check the nodes and you'll see.... it's the same either way. :)

yeah i guess that makes sense. just didn't seem logical to put them that way, but now i see what you are saying.
