"Precision rectifier" circuit-anyone use it for an octaver?

...seems well-suited for use as an octave-up box.  Does anyone make one of these already?  If so, how does it sound compared to "standard" octave-up circuits?

I've done this before.  I think at least one commercial pedal uses a similar configuration as well.  Frankly, it does sound quite different than a standard transformer circuit but I wouldn't say any better.  It sounds a little cleaner because it does not require a big overdriven signal to pass the diodes - this circuit uses feedback to eliminate the "diode drop".  My best octave experiment was transformer driven and it tracked a lot better than any of my op amp experiments.

Cool, thanks.  I thought it might be a "clean" sounding octave.  Do you happen to recall what commercial pedal uses this?

John Hollis uses a, op amp driven full wave rectifier in his "OmniDrive" circuit.

Cool, thanks!  I'll have to try out that full/half mod.
