Is anyone who built this kind enough to open up their unit and post some transistor pinout voltages.

Okay, I think I have the circuit working but I don't hear much compression.  I have no bypass at the moment so instant comparison to the uneffected signal is not there.  The Compression level at max does add a good bit of distortion/overdrive.

My main question is how to set the trims.  A schematic in another post says to set VR1 so that Q1 has a voltage ~4.5-5v.  I can only get it to 6.4v when I max the trimpot out.

Here is the layout I am using:
http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/MarkMs-Gallery/album15/album76/So_Simple_Comp_V2_LAYOUT.gif.html

My transistor voltages are:
Q1: 6.4, 0.14, 0
Q2: 0, 2.4, 0
Q3: 9.3,2.5, 1.7
Q4: 9.3, 2.3, 1.7

Battery is 9.44v

Q1, Q3, and Q4 look okay.  I am not familiar with how a BS170 should operate but seeing 0 volts on two pins makes me curious if that is right.

Okay, so maybe I turned people off when I asked you to "open up your unit".

Anyhow, any comments on my question(s) would be appreciated greatly.

layouts don't really help when trying to troubleshoot, if you can post the schem, someone may try to help you out.
