If there are no markings on the pot can you test for log, linear, reverse log?

Is there a way to determine the taper of a pot that isn't marked? I know the value just not the taper. Thanks.

try hooking it up to a DMM and taking a reading, then turn the pot slightly, take another reading, and so on. Then, see which graph it looks like here http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/potsecrets/potscret.htm

Set it to the middle, the middle setting is easily eyeballed.  If you suspect G taper pots you should check at 25% and/or 75%.
