Hello Everyone...

I've built a Big Muff tone control:

and tried it out on a couple of different circuits. It sounds great, but I didn't realise the volume drop would be so severe !! Is there any way I can rectify the volume after the tone control has done it's work ?? Also, where would be the best place to wire the control ?? Input or output ??

If you have a look at a BM schematic, you'll see the tonestack is in between the main circuit and a single transistor gain recovery stage (which looks very similar to an LPB). So, add the tonestack at the output of your effect and use a gain recovery stage after it. You can tweak the BM tonestack to the output impedance of your circuit using Duncan's Calculator: http://www.duncanamps.com/tsc/

There are circuits that still have tons of volume after adding the passive Big Muff tonsestack but it just so happens that a lot of circuits do loose a lot of volume.
Add the tone recovery stage and you should be right.

this is not a tone stack calc per say but it was helpful in the past to see the effect/values of high pass/low pass filters, by putting LP/HP filters together you can create a mid cut or boost...  (i'm on Mac too and the duncan tone stac calc is dearly missed...  :icon_sad:)
