transistors - which is cbe?

hey, how do you know which part of your transistor is pole c - b - or e?  I'm specifically using an mpsa13

Pedals Built- Morley ABC Box, Fultone A/B Box, DIY Stompboxes True Bypass box, GGG Drop in Wah, AMZ Mosfet Boost, ROG Flipster, ROG Tonemender, Tonepad Big Muff Pi.
On the bench:  Rebote 2.5,  Dr Boogie, TS808

are transistors always oriented to the flat side like that?  or should I always check the datasheet before a build?  thnx

  Always check that you checked the data sheet right.

And try to get the datasheet from the manufacturer of your specific transistor; sometimes different makers use different pinouts for the same transistor.
