Hey guys!

I'm trying to build the Minty Amp. http://www.mintellectual.com/mintyamp/Minty%20Amp%20assembly%20instructions.pdf The problem is, I can't get a schematic of this anywhere and the PCB they sell...well its like $2.50 and shipping is over double that! I'm wondering if anyone can help me by either using their knowledge to create a schem or from experience with this actual project.

Thanks! :)

You need a glade plug-in, in on a footswitch.  Kick on the big muff, then hit the air freshener pedal.

Under $10 for an etched board shipped? That's a steal, get it.

Build a Little Gem. It's not drastically different.

How does the Little Gem handle headphones? I'm trying to make a headphone amp really.

It's the LM386...current drive is real good for the dinky package.
and only so good too, doesn't matter what you do, if you want any kind of loud you'll get distortion too.
Put a Jfet in front, see the Mfr.s data sheet, building them all...you'll get what you get out of the 386 package amps, 2 chips of course are a little louder than one.

I built one of these a long while back.  Real easy to do and works great!

Enjoy!

What JFET would I use and how would I put it in there :icon_question: Sorry, I've never worked with JFETs before!

I could just omit the speaker and leave a stereo jack, right?

And could I substitute a 1 or 2k pot in for the 25ohm one?

The 25 ohm rheostat on the Little Gem is such a low value because it affects output impedance. 1 or 2k would be too high. Go with the Ruby and you can use standard pots, plus you've got the JFET input too.

If you omit the speaker, you'll just need a regular stereo jack - it won't have to be a switched one.
