Funny, I was just cleaning up some stuff and put different boards/builds in bags and labeled them to avoid this problem.

One really nice tool is a box of freezer-rated ziplock bags from the grocery store. They are heavier than the average sandwich bag, and have a stripe of white across them that accepts ballpoint and marker pen writing.

Now all I have to do is remember to use the baggies...
