I am using this layout

from tonepad.com and wanted to know if this transformer would work?

If I decided to go this route, do any of you guys have any recommendations or useful tips when dealing with transformers (high voltage)? Grounding the circuit to the enclosure? PCB mount transformer, what to do?

It looks fine. However, it can only output 120mA. You'll have to decide whether that's enough current based on how many and what pedals you are connecting to this.

Just be really really careful, and you should be fine. Make sure to double check all your connections three times before plugging it in, keep your hand on the plug while you do so, maybe hook up your voltmeter to the output of the supply and watch what it does as you plug in the circuit - that way you can tell if you have a fault and remove the plug, less risk of damage.

The wall plug needs to have the hot and neutral (white and black, or the two top rectangle parts of the plug) connected to the primary windings of the transformer and the third lower plug hole(circle) connected to your chassis ground.

The PCB transformer - well, perhaps all I can say is that you should keep the transformer's primary traces a decent distance away from the rest of the circuit...

Oh, almost forgot - make sure you include a fuse on the HOT line of your 120VAC, that's a must.

If you have a power switch, put it on the hot line as well.
