I've been looking at the Slow Gear and Gator circuits.  It's obvious that the SG Swell Effect was derived from a Noise Gate, but I would like to build an effect that passes signal below a certain threshold, and swells if your attack is above set threshold.

I guess it's signal is derived more like a compressor, such as the orange squeezer where nothing happens until you hit a certain point.  Instead of gating untriggered signals, I would like to simple pass them through untouched.

Any design ideas?  I want to get it on paper before I go to the breadboard.

Many noise gates will provide the option to adjust how much attenuation occurs when the gate is closed/off, relative to full through-put signal.  Find yourself, or make yourself one of those, and then arrange to have a slow attack time.

now that I think about it.  I'm not sure a noise gate will let me pass signal at full volume AND swell starting at zero volume when I pick above a certain threshold.  I'll have to get creative with this one.
