Here's my suggestion, take a PT2399 w/PTAP Tap Tempo Control, and run the delayed signal through a BBD set to minimum delay.

2nd Suggestion, add a mixer post PT2399 so that you can mix between straight digital and BBD-effected sound.

3rd Suggestion, add an LFO to modulate the BBD.

What have we just designed?  Something like the Seymour Duncan Deja-Vu.

Questions,
Would a BBD set at minimum have any noticeable Latency?
Is modulation possible at minimum delay settings?  Does it sound right?

What do you think?

EDIT:  Well maybe not the same thing.  Deja Vu can do looping, so it's probably a little more advanced than the PT2399.

Even though the PT2399 is digital, I don't think it can be described as "squeaky clean". The "warmth" of an analogue delay that gets referred to comes more from the need to roll off treble on the repeats to stop it from getting too noisy. The same has to be done with the PT2399 for the same reason, so I'm not sure that combining both types of chip would make it so obvious which is which.

There are a few cheap Chinese production pedals that are marketed as analogue delays but in fact have a PT2399 inside!
Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.
