I just breadboarded a Smash Drive last night. Sounds great. Very chunky distortion.

I'm getting a lot of hiss or noise. I added a 0.001uf cap to ground from pin 3. This cut the noise but also cut too much of the highs. I'm using a power supply and a 100uf cap across the + and - to quell the motor boating.

Give me some suggestions.

There is so much gain on tap that it does get hissy. Does it make noise on a battery???

I tested with a battery the hiss didn't change. A small cap to ground on pin 3 really cleaned it up. But this rolled off a little too much of the guitar. I'll experiment with a smaller cap tonight. I tried a small cap on the output but it had no effect.
