Ive havent even boxed mine up yet so Im sure some of the noise will be taken care of there.

Would shielded wire help?

It'll help with any crosstalk, but that's not really a huge issue with this circuit--I think you'll find that it'll be a little quieter when boxed, but overall, it's mainly a side-effect of such high gain.
