Hey'all,

I finished AX84 4-4-0 which is a 2w version of express with 6SN7 output tube and 12AY7 PI. A few pix:

I'll add some clips soon.

Man that looks great!! Looking forward to hearing it.

BTW, is that what they call eyelet board?

Boogdish

I love the red texture on your bias board.  Is it just regular red garrolite that's been scratched up a bit?

bancika

thanks guys. Yes, this is eyelet board. I got the perforated FR-4 board from banzai and installed eyelets myself.
Bias board is actually swirled by default, got it from McMaster Carr.

Finally got a chance to record few clips. All of them are recorded with my Ibanez RG2550 with hi output pickups (Dimarzio Crunch Lab and Liquifire), so these clips are crunchy. I'm yet to try it with my Strat for cleaner sounds. Amp is running into a 8.2ohm 9w resistor as a dummy load and Palmer PDI-09 speaker sim. Cool thing about that is that I can use time based FX and post EQ after the speaker sim. On one of the clips I'm using delay. Other than the Palmer, no EQ-ing is done. Noise level clip has the same riff played at various volume settings with a second or two before and after so you can get the picture of noise to signal ratio. Also, I left few secs of white noise at the beginning of part 2. IMO, it's pretty decent in that regard. Anyways, here are the links

Here's another clip to show how responsive the amp is. Amp volume is set around 50% and is not changed, I only played with guitar pickup selector switch and volume knob. Still haven't tried it with the Strat, should clean up even better.

Great sounding amp man! Was that a Joe Satriani song for the first clip?
I'm not a huge fan of the enclosure, but your wiring looks top notch.

GibsonGM

Sweet little amp, man!  Clean work, too :o)

Thanks guys. Yes, that's Satriani's "If I Could Fly".
I'm not a big fan of the way the enclosure looks either, but it's the best enclosure to work with that I've tried. Every panel is removable separately and it's pretty sturdy.
I know there's a moral obligation to put a trainwreck into a nice wooden chassis, but I didn't have time to do something fancy. It sits on my floor anyways :)
