My goal in creating this circuit was to use it as a front end when playing directly through a PA amp. I know, stricktly TABOO! But, I am doing it anyway when I perform with my "2 guys and a mixer" band.

So, I wanted a warm vintage tube sound. I bought some 6111 and 5672 tubes to play with using Dano and Frequency Central's work from this famous thread:

After much fiddling, I decided what worked best for me was to use a Penta Boost-ish (thanks FC) front end into a Subcaster-ish (thanks Dano) clip section. I played around with caps until I got something that works for my gear and ears. Here is the schemo:

And here is a sample of some of the sounds. This was recorded direct with only the circuit on my breadboard and a software cab sim. I will be using other stomps in front of it when I actually play live.

I hope you enjoy! ;D

Well, I like it - but then I would, wouldn't I?  :icon_biggrin:

The soundclip is cool too!

Thanks Rick.

It was funny because I had just watched a documentary about Les Paul before I recorded that sound clip. I was in awe after seeing the movie. That guy is like the father of all of us guitar playing circuit hackers!

So, I was trying to channel him a little as I multi-tracked my humbucker sporting guitar. But of course he played his licks at 4 times the speed and dexterity that I manage...
