Strange popping issue

I built this circuit on my breadboard:

It pops every time I turn it on and off (the breadboard is in a true bypass looper), but if I switch the 10u electrolytic cap out for a smaller value film cap it doesn't.  I have tried several 10u caps.  Pull down resistors don't help.  Any thoughts?

try 100k after 10mF and before 'boost' pot to the ground.

I know it's been a while.....  but why not use a poly film cap?  They sound better than electrolytics.  With the 10K pot and a .47uF cap your cutoff frequency is 34Hz, which will even work for bass guitar.

(a) did you get the electro polarity correct, more positive voltage on the + side?

(b) have you measured for DC on the output?

As another thought, it takes a long time for 10uF to fill up through a 100K resistor.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
