Hey all. Thanks to everybody here and elsewhere my other builds are good! :D

Now its onto this goofy thing. The Topopicone(sp) polyphase. I etched the revision board and populated it a year or so ago and have finally gotten around to testing it.

Issue 1. On my scope...before I power it up I get signal to pin 3 of IC1. Cool. After I power it up..the reading goes way off my scope. as with all other 4558's. However..my output signal, is there..its larger, meaning louder than the input signal.

Issue 2, I think I have a dead 4558. the upper left IC just under the .33uf cap. I get voltages but with my audio probe I get no sound out of pins 2-7. I clicking ish sounds when I touch the IC pins with my audio probe and my scope in that area does the same thing as with my other IC's. The reading jumps way high off the screen of my scope.

I adjusted the trimpot for 6.70 volts. My vactrols are getting around 5.5 volts off the LDR side.

B+ is 13.53 ( I know its not B+ but F$$k it! :icon_razz: ) and Vref is around 6.5 and 5.5 depending on the IC(4558) havent yet taken figures off the 4013.
Ill get more readings up real soon, just wondering who else has built one and what problems arose. Im using VTL5C4/2's since those are the only ones I have. But building my own is not an issue, I just need to know the light and dark resistantces.

Thanks for any and all help. and..lastly...why cant I see what I am typing after the message gets underneath the window?? it jumps around...odd..

OKAY...

It goes up, but then kind stays there. Its also SUPER microphonic. The depth control pot and wire, the middle wire is VERY microphonic.

And if I move it or the pot, the sound goes to pure sign wave or screachy LOUD as hell microphinic feedback noise.

Bad, but I can get this.

Just need some insight.

My CA3140 gets hot! .......Weird! :-[

Hi y'all, I am still working on the polyphase, which was uploaded by P. Nelson in 2006. Is anybody working on this project still?
here are my voltage readings:
