This looks like a really neat circuit...does anybody know if it would work with a Germanium transistor in Q2 instead of the Jfet?

I can't upload the image for some reason, but here's the link to the schematic.

Q2 could be basically anything except a P-channel FET or PNP transistor.

Would any of the resistor or capacitor values have to be changed to accomodate a germanium transistor, then, or could everything pretty much stay the same?

I'm going to give an uneducated answer/guess, then hopefully learn something from further replies.

The Trauma control is a bias control...so just about anything will work in Q2.  The control just might lose effectiveness over a part of its range.

Right?

Also, I have no idea if feeding too much voltage to a GE (via a 10K pot vs say a 1-2K pot)  would be potentially harmful to its lifespan.
