Check this diagram. I noted the pinouts for the transistors. It is very common people orient their germanium transistor wrong in particularly this build from this page, because the person who drew this, drew the transistors wrong. If you followed the layout and oriented transistors according to the tab, most certanly you made a mistake.
Recheck with the datasheet of your transistor and my diagram and try again.
