So, quite a few queries lately for dirty sounding distortions. I tried out the Fuzz Rite for the heck of it, and have been playing around with it since. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, but anyways... This is one of my incarnations:

If you take and swap the 2 collector resistors out to 100k, you can use a 100k blending pot and get more great sounds!

ENJOY!!!

You've got 2N3906 listed as NPN.

But that looks like a cool design.  :)

Yar, you're right... also forgot to label the V+  ;)

I love the symmetry.

Could this be a new idea for a design contest?

Design and build a symmetrical circuit!

Hey all, sorry to bump an old thread but I've been playing with Diptrace and made a PCB layout for this.
I thought I would post it incase anyone was interested.  Its unverified at the moment and I'm a slow builder so may not be for some time.

It will fit in a 1590a with board mounted pots, however may take up all the available room and you may need to drill an extra hole in the board to be able to feed wire through to the switch and jacks!  :D
There should be room for this below the 47uF.

Board measures 33mm by 27mm.  Or PM me if you would like a PDF.

Badazz! I just plugged mine in and was playing with it the other day. I actually used a 50k pot, and dropped a .01 cap to ground from the output of Q1 (junction of the .1u and the mix pot). I'm gonna have to sit down and shem out all the variances I've come up with for this. Kind of a crazy little circuit. Glad to see others have shown interest.

Haha I love symmetry.  Here's an idea I had the other day - a diode clipper with a LFO on the other end of the diodes instead of ground.  Would do distorty tremolo, phaseish stuff.  (note: lacking an actual LFO, input/output buffers, etc. don't try and build this :p)

I'm hoping the LFO bleed can be solved using a carefully designed subtracting amplifier at the end.

I made the transistor angry.

Skreddy

A smallish output cap would get rid of that lfo/dc bias, no problem.

Just finished this cool little circuit. Thanks for sharing Earthscum!
Used BC109 transistors and 1N914 diodes. I also used a 1M pot in place of the two 470k resistors (which was mentioned in another thread about this circuit I believe).
Splatty is a good description for this. You can also get some synthy and octave up sounds. Lots of variation with just two controls.
Fun stuff!

Verified  8)  And it only took.... 15 months :icon_lol:  Hopefully it doesn't take me another 15 months to box it up.

Its a pretty cool little circuit!

PDF available here if anyone is interested.

Sorry for the necro-post. I've been thinking about the Bazz Fuss and Buzz Box and wondered what would happen if you mixed the two stages as per the Fuzzrite. Of course, someone else had already had the same idea! Anyone have the schematic for this one? The links are long dead.
