Hey All.
Big blanketed question here I know, but I'm fairly new to fuzz circuits. I've built a lot of other effects, thought it was time to jump into this territory.

So here you go.
Looking to build/purchase a couple fuzz kits/PCB's, one with an octave up. Looking for any advice/links that can be thrown my way on any of your experiences on what is a really good build. I just finished the MXR Bluebox clone from Tonepad-EXCELLENT!!!!!

For an octave up fuzz I was looking at the Ampeg Scrambler, but was thinking on a FTM from GGG as its more versatile, and I like the range of fuzz that it produces, any takers?
As for a basic Fuzz I'm open for suggestions, maybe something that doesn't color the tone as much as an FTM, more transparent to thick fuzz tone. Most of my PCB's/kits in the past have been from GGG, Tonepad and BYOC. They all have been great.

Big thanks in advance.

The Craig Anderton Quadrafuzz is worth a look if someone can help with the article from Guitar Player. The signal is first split into 4 frequency bands each having it's own fuzz processor.

I like the Multi-Face from ROG. It's fun to tinker around with all of the transistors on your bench and see what you get.  It's kinda like a breadboard for fuzzes.  My favorite is a pair of 5088's with a pair of hard clippers.

Breadboard a Fuzz Face with trimmers replacing just about all the resistors.

...then try swapping out transistors with higher and lower gains.

I'd recommend Silicon, as it's easier to get consistent results without the temperature going up and down.

Months will pass.  Governments will rise and fall, and you'll *still* be tweaking.

Write down the resistor values that work for you, and build your ultimate fuzz.

This is the MultiFace, I believe. Great suggestion, though.

Thanks all for the advice. I really like the idea of a MultiFace, and tweaking to the cows come home. :icon_biggrin:

I really like the Tycobrahe Octavia,
really simple build and GGG do a pcb for it.

If you're thinking Ampeg Scrambler, you might also want to check out the W.T.F. http://www.forrestwhitesides.com/node/91 . Very low parts count, nasty fuzz, and kinda sounds like the bastard child of a FTM and a Scrambler. Has the octave sound of the Scrambler combined with the power of a FTM.

Special little beastie. If you want the vero layout, let me know. I did one recently.

Cheers,
