Something strange is afoot inside this SD-1

I am modifying a Boss SD-1, and replaced the red LED with a blue one. When I power it with just a One Spot, the LED is weak, but when I use a battery, the LED is strong and bright. There doesn't seem to be a difference in sound between the One Spot and the battery.

I tested the One Spot and battery on two other pedals (one being another SD-1), but didn't get the same result. The One Spot measures 9v and the battery measures 8v.

Any ideas for anything to check?

Put another Boss pedal in your setup, a new PSA-powered one

My CE-2 is supposed to take a Boss ACA adapter, and with my PSA adapter it runs at a lower voltage. Daisy chaining with other Boss pedals bypasses this "feature"

There was an interesting article explaining this, but I read it a year ago and didn't understand most of it... maybe googling ACA vs PSA adapters or something would help?

ACA Strikes Again! fortunately for us, there is a lot of good information out there regarding these changes. I'm sure glad boss got away from those unregulated ACA's. Must have seemed like a good idea at the time...

hmmm...i have an old boss ce-2...the led is really dim.(almost off) .when using my daisy!...so this is why!.. i did wonder!. cheers.

Another hmmmm..... I've read that when daisy chained with other pedals, its supposed to work properly

yup

got mine chained with a polytune, echo base, and sho and it runs perfectly
