Breadboarded this b*tch tonight... wow, do I love it! Using relatively low gain transistors too. Basically, i wired up an NPN FF circuit the other day using a pair of OC140s (Q1 in the 80s, Q2 in the 90s).  Added a Rangemaster input stage tonight with 2.2uf input cap and a russian MP38A (50 hfe)... so far, this is my favorite fuzz. Didn't have a 10k pot for RM-stage gain... used a 50k, not ideal but got the point. Whenever I box it up, i'm planning to make the input stage a footswitchable boost, with a few cap selections. Tomorrow night, i'll see how an RM Octavia octave circuit can piggyback onto this.

What gain leakage #'s did you measure with the MP38A transistors? I have a batch of them myself.  They are fairly low gain and they sound great in a fuzz face. I just ordered the parts to build a Tonebender MKII also. When I get it built I'll post the results.
