I'm looking to build a new project - something with heavy distortion.  I know plenty of people on here have built the Dr. Boogey, but I've only recently heard of the Suhr Riot.  Has anybody built both of these?  Which do you prefer and why?  It seems like they're a good match-up as they are very similar pedals.  I've read the Riot is based on the Guv'nr.

ive been waiting to hear a good demo of the madbean uproar!(riot).....a guy called haddock on here built one,

but as yet havent heard it...might just have to build one and see/hear for myself... ::)


you cant go wrong with a boogie though...great pedal... :icon_twisted:

The claim about the Riot is that it doesn't have annoyingly thumpy lows or shrill highs, but is "just right."  Never having played either myself, is that also the case for the Boogey?  I know I've heard of the Boogey being a bit tricky to bias and with feedback/oscillation issues.  I'm wondering if the Riot is also a bit difficult.

doesnt seem so....just op amps..no special biasing involved...

i found a couple of youtube 'suhr riot clone' vids...but they used the bloody horrible cam mics...so you dont really hear it... :icon_rolleyes:

hmmmm......been thinking of building the madbean version...but the sound examples/playing on these videos  may, or may not do it justice!!!... :-\

I'll take a look at those.  I have to admit...the 4 trim pots on the Boogey do not look appealing.  :icon_lol:  I wonder how the GGG BSIAB 2 compares as well?

dont know about the bsiab 1 or 2....havent built either..only 1 trim though.. :icon_mrgreen:

the trims on the boogey are easy enough to get to grips with though..

the bsiab III (on the right) sounds way better to me with that contour mod!...than those terrible suhr clone demos...
plenty of gain....hmmmm...might build it today..i was looking at building something.. :icon_twisted:

hi armando..yeah!.....did you take out the 2x .0022uf caps?....just been reading that bucksears does this...

Now that's what I call quick response.  Any time I'm wondering about a build I'll just give you a couple hours to throw it together.  :icon_lol: Let me know what you think in comparison to the other pedals!

BSIAB3 = BSIAB2 + Contour mod

I can hardly find time on the weekend to build ! oh... but now I remeber....you've just bought a laser printer... so you need to recoup the cost and make it worth while  :D  :D 

and yes I had the 2x0022uf in there, I had it stock then added the countour pot, love it as it is (was.. I've given it away)

i had a day off....sort of....i fancied building something rather than just staring at the tv/porn/or the cat...... :icon_mrgreen:

so you stuck with the standard bsiab2,...hmmm... i might try those caps in it later....

i read that some people stuck a baxandall on it...or amz tone control...hmmmm...


@spargo....i'm not that quick everyday....just got fed up with dodgy demo's and wanted to hear it properly.. :icon_wink:

in an early one I've build a couple of years ago I have a switch on C2 (on ggg schem), it switch between the stock 0.068uf and the other cap I'm not sure about the value, on the cap I can read .47M, one of the two positions bright it up a little bit.
