My assembly house more than doubled their prices, so I want to get a small commercial reflow oven.

I know there are other alternatives like toaster oven versions and skillets but that is not what I want.

Sparkfun claims the I/R reflow oven they bought didn't work right, but it is probably user error (as they suggest in the blog)

I am wondering whether anyone here has actually purchased a smaller commercial reflow oven that worked well.

There aren't that many different ones that I could find, but this one is under a grand:

and its available in 110 v.

Then there is this one for under $200

but the description doesn't exactly inspire confidence:
"Perfect varity functions:... Can used to the gum of the product solid turn, the circuit board is hot aging, the PCB plank maintains to wait various works."

I reckon the chinese one will be ok....the reviews I read about such ovensm suggest the build quality is poor, but it does what it's meant to. I use a benchtop mini fan oven.....destined for the TV dinner market it reflows fine - I say the solder profiles are all well & good, but so long as my paste turns silver, shiny & flows then that'll do me.....the chinese reflow oven is 20x better than my oven!

I finally got a chance to use it and it was totally inconsistent.

Particularly where I had a large pad as a heat sink it failed to melt anything, and some of the big caps just fell off.

It worked fine for the resistors but those are the easier things to solder by hand.

Anyway, not recommended!
