Hey

I have a little question, what is best souding guitar stompbox (preamp), i want to build a little rig and close it in the 1u rack, make a switching etc. and plug it all in to return of the amp (50W tube Laney AOR power amp).
I have build for now sansamp gt2 but it's very loud on output and sound little hifi thinking of something like Krank DM or something else, any ideas???

i will put in my rack:
mxr noise gate
maxon 808 as a boost
.... - don't know what will be best for a main sound...
boss Ce-2
rebote delay 2.5
bbe sonic maxisizer

Suicufnoc

I'd suggest some variant of the BSIAB (Brown Sound in a Box.)  Take a look at the Spitfire a couple posts down, see if that interests you (not saying the Spitfire is merely a modded BSIAB, but it has roots there)
Another possibility is a Dr. Boogie, but that's a more complicated build.
Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words can get you shot

I'm not a big Mesa fan :P and have build dr boogie long time ago, but don't realy like it... I'm more marshall, soldano, engl, krank sound lover :) Any more ideas for good moder sound in a box?

armkon

one more question, it will be better if i will make the tube fender clean channel and plug all of this in to it or plug it in to return and it will be ok?

i built the diefet a diesel emulation ... i tell you its very good for metal and very versatile pedal.. try it :D

Well, you could try GTFO (that's the name of the pedal ;p) or Engl E530 (floating over the sloclone forum). Both use only two tubes and the sounds is terrific.

^ sounds good for riffin, but i tend to find most pedals that are great for punchy riffin tend to be not so good for lead ....just my opinion, and experiences... ;)

What kind of distortion do you want?  Raw and open like an SLO/Recto, tight and focused like an Engl, saturated like a 5150...?  There are too many good amps that do modern metal to say "go make a pedal like this one".

More like Slo or Engl, 5150 i have find fet version only and want to share the new thing (maby old, new for me) :P
I have build e530 but all schematics have mistakes, there is no one good i have build 3 versions and all have some mistakes (the layouts floating on sloclone are from me :P same nick as here) if there was lead ther was no cruntch or clean, and realy i dont like relays and switching mutch, mod version from russian forum work but not sound like engl. Best (3\4) working version was the KMG full layout, but design pcb without hum and oscilation is not so easy for this engl.

Still thinking about making soldano hr preamp and searching for good pcb layout or something like this.

I'm searching for detox eq to if someone have schematics please share :)

Dude, what a fail I am xD It's just because I haven't been on sloclone for a long time. ;) I also wanted to try e530, but I had many other and simpler projects to do :P

i think that maby i will tray to make the 1 channel soldano hr preamp but still i will need something like Detox eq to clean it or use like a clean channel anyone have schematics of this little beauty? Today i have work on pcb layout of soldano, soldano as amp sound fantastic and have only 3 tubes i have transformers from other builds, must buy only some parts most of them i have :).

I hate relays in that engl e530, how may times i must to build it to work in 100%, with other tube projects i don't have same problems as with this one... In Engl distortion sound good if you play alone but bass is little out of everything, i think some values have mistakes, and it don't break through good if you have more then one guitar in band. Maxon od-808 + peavey valveking 112 sound better then the diy version of this e530 plug in to jcm 800 return and 4x12 g12h30 cab for me... Don't have idea what more to build  :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS8glIrZqlc - soldano hr 100W make the smile on my face :D :D

Anyone can confirm if the .pdf or the .jpg for that 5150 pedal are ok? .jpg seems to be missing the transistor types...  ??? I really liked the sound of that pedal  :icon_razz:

rob it is sound nasty and crunchy.. its very dynamic and when you strum a simple chords you can really hear every string you strum... even pluck it with maximum gain with soft picking. . . i have no sound clips at the moment im trying to make a speaker sim next day for clips. . . hope very soon i have gigs at the moment and im focus on guitar first :D
