So I just finished getting everything in a green big muff soldered in the right spot (after double checking 8 times, will again in the morning) and checking for bridges in the vero, and it works.... As a clean boost.

I don't have the same russian military trannies EHX did back when they build it, I'm using 2n5089's, but does transistor type really matter as long as it's silicon and has the right pin out in the big muff?

If the circuits not insanely picky about transistors, I'll go through the debugging process tommorow.

It isn't. There's some subtleties to be found with changing transistors, most people prefer not too high a gain especially for bass. The circuit should work just fine with any correctly pinned generic small signal NPN tranny.
Debugging time...
