Non working AC booster - suggestions!?

I got an AC booster from a friend - led turns on and i got some voltage on the board - using a flying lead I traced the signal, I got it up at the IC entrance (pin 2) but no out put on pin 1 - guess I shall have to change it!? what kind of IC is supposed to work?! regular 4558/TL072?
ps strange how the IC got full voltage on all 8 pins with the output jack disconnected...

Desoldered the unknown IC, prolly burnt - put a jrc4558 and gave it back to its owner...
