From what i have heard this is a common problem with these reissue units etc etc ..
When you switch on the pedal it gets almost quieter than in by pass ...

Does anyone know of any fixes to help this problem ??

Thanks for any help !!!

Your problem is that this pedal uses Ge diodes which clamp your output at around .6 volts.  Humbuckers can beat that easily.  The only way to get louder is to try more or different diode clippers or use a boost after the distortion+ which unfortunately defeats the purpose of using it in the first place.

What if i added a LED to each Ge diode on the board etc ??

D1 - 1N34a + LED
D2 - 1N34A + LED

Sure that'll work and you'll have tons of output.  The flavor of the clipping will change.  If you want to keep the sound somewhat similar you could do this:

D1 - 1N34a + 1N34a + 1N34a
D2 - 1N34A + 1N34a + 1N34a

Good luck and be sure to report back.

1) Change Ge diodes to a pair of Si (1N914/1N4148/1N4001, etc)

2) Change 4k7 resistor in series with Gain pot to 3k9 or 3k3

3) Make sure the output volume pot is NOT 10k but is 50k or 100k.
