I have completed a few Overdrive and Distortion Pedals, that have came out great,
with very little problems.

I have developed a very good understanding of how things work in such
pedals and want to move on to other effects projects.

My question is what would be the easiest to start off with,
Reverb, Delay, Chorus, compressor, any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Derringer

depends on how complex the distortions/overdrives are you've built ...

but more importantly, what would you rather play your guitar through at the moment? A reverb, delay, chorus or compressor?
I think the answer to that question will suit your needs.

Then looks at some circuits and find one with what you feel has an approachable parts count and layout.

Some of the circuits have been pretty elaborate.  Some projects with multiple opamps,
and some projects with Jfets or combination of both.

With me Its not a question of what I would like to play right now, but more of what could I learn
to build next.

Thanks,

not sure what you are working with , are you useing vero or etching ? forgive me for commenting cause i am not an expert but i have done a lot of reading (disabled) so i will chime in if you dont mind .

from looking at schematics over the last few months i have chosen to try compressors . i started with buffers , boosters , fuzz , distortion , next up a comp then a delay . i am under the impression that this comp is the next level in complexity for me , but ...  there are some simpler pt2399 chorus and reverb designs too though ...

also with compressors a lot use vactrols so with that you either order one and pay a lil extra for the part cause they aren't really cheap compared to other components , or you "roll yer own" w/ an led and a cds cell . then there is the ca3080 chip , the dynacomp doesn't use a vactrol but it calls for this ca3080 , those are a lil more $ as well , but you can get em from smallbear .

matter of fact i just got mine today ( thanks lil bear ! ) i was pleasantly surprised cause i was under the impression it would take a bit longer . i JUST ordered it the other day ... i am going to try a dynacomp w/jangle mod . there are "simpler" comps out there as well , like the flatline and the orange squeezer , but i am under the impression they are not as obvious or pronounced of an effect as more complicated designs , i may be wrong though ... a lot of this info is culled from opinions online and who knows if these guys ever tried anything else !

another thing about compressors is there isnt a vast quantity of them out there but i guess the same could be said about rev/chorus/delays , and most folks seem to very picky about which comp they prefer . so i guess breadboarding would be ideal or just research the heck out of it , look for clips and demo vids  .

thing is i always use a compressor , but its a rack mount so i really kinda could USE one to go more portable which is my whole point lately . i would LOVE to have a noise gate , but , i cant seem to find a diy solution that looks good . maybe i will get a cheapo behringer .

im learning , we'll thats what i keep telling myself

I've made a few pcb, find it easier than vero.  Maybe I will draw my attention to trying a compressor or delay build.

Thank you so much for the links.

Ciao,
