Remote Footswitch

Hey am looking to try and build something kinda like the gigrig and found a few things on the internet. One is called the super simple switcher and the other is this:

Has anybody ever built this and is there a parts list? I found this other link: http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/pffootsw.pdf but it is a little bit different.  I am still pretty new to this DIY stuff and I would love some help.  The only thing I found about this remote footswitch was from 2003 and was wondering if it's been built  or changed since then.  Any help would be awesome.
