I have a alpha 2-12 position rotary switch that I only need 4 or 5 positions.  I purchased it from small bear electronics.  Anyone know how to 'adjust' it so it only uses 4 or 5 of the positions.  I assumes that by adjusting it, it will only click thru the positions I need and not actually rotate thru all 12 positions.  Am I correct in this assumption?
Thanks

Yes, there's a ring that sits on top with a tab that goes into the hole marked for the number of stops you want.

Something to note is that when you put that little tab in the hole, it locks the rotating portion inside the switch to one side, so make sure the switch is turned fully to the side with contact 1 so that you will have the use of contact 1-X instead of X-12.  I've made the mistake before and I imagine it could cause trouble for someone who is unaware.
