Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out how I could use Positiv20 to apply white labels on black enclosures.

Here is the idea:

1- Laserprint my design on a transparent sheet (negative)
2- Spraying Positiv20 on my hammond enclosure (which is already powdercoated)
3- Curing Positiv20
4- Using my PCB UV setup to do the magic work (+ obviously using the usual chemical, I don't know what's its name in English)
5- Spraying 2 thin coats of white paint
6- With an unknown yet chemical, dissolve the remaining Positiv20 coat and the paint on it, hoping it won't affect labeled areas
7- Spraying 5 thin coats of clear lacquer

Steps 1 to 5 are ok, unless paint uses some nasty solvents which would affect Positiv20.
Step 7 isn't an issue either.
Do you guys have any idea about what chemical I could use for step 6 ?

Did anyone ever try this method ?

Thanks,

The chemical used in the developing stage is sodium hydroxide, which is also used as a paint stripper.  I'm pretty sure it will mess up your powder coat.  Sorry.

EDIT
You can use acetone for step 6, if you get that far :icon_biggrin:

Would that paint cover your Positiv20 and prevent developer to do it´s job? I believe developer is not so strong solution to damage painted surfaces but who knows before tryig

Years ago I was sure there was some solvent that could etch plastic like polystyrene but not Positiv20...
