Identify an old germanium transistor(?)

I wonder if you guys could help me out and try to identify this old transistor?

About two weeks ago me and my girlfriend was out for a walk, suddenly I saw a dirty, mossy and moist circuit board lying in a abandoned tennis court. Some kids seemed to have had some fun trashing and old radio, tv or god knows what. So I picked it up and brought it back home, of course!

The text is very worn. From what I can see it says something like "BC 311 8xx278" "BC 811 8xx778" (x being unreadable)
