I have a few 1590bb enclosures laying around and I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for two overdrives that don't overpower each other. Or if you have any suggestions for two non overdrive effects that sound good together that would be cool.

Nice build Mich!
I see you like those Philmore knobs like I do.  ;)

Tube Screamer into Boss Blues Driver BD-2 (maybe with mods for more bass, see Keeley) sounds interesting.
Or a clean booster (maybe with EQ: Boss FA-1) or any pedal that is similar to a Tube Screamer  into a JFET-based, amp-like overdrive, like Catalinbread DLS or many circuits from runoffgroove.com.

The Visual Sound Dr Jeckll Mr Hyde is basically a Tube Screamer and a Marshal Guvnor with a noise gate. Doesn't sound too bad.

thats my main setup into my fender amp. it works well if what your after is on the low gain side... imho
the ts fattens up single note lines and adds sustain, also thickens up chords and cuts down the ice pick effect of a clean amp
the bd is pretty transparent tonally just adds a bit of grit / crinch to chords without the fattening, i use it primarily as a lead boost for a bit more volume...
they work well together, at higher gains the ts gets creamy and the bd gets crunchy/edgy can be harsh all alone but with the ts on in front it smooths it out.
together they can get a good amt of susstain going without being too thick/creamy or too edgy harsh... which is how they get alone at higher gains imho.  works for me. though i still tinker with the ts tone control values as i feel they can be a bit too middy as is. i still keep em a little middy but less so. no specific values that i remember just remember adjusting the lpf a bit and also the tone cap for a little more treble...
i use em both at @ 1/4 gain and ts unity or a bit above bd at above unity for a lead boost.  8)
definately a great combo for blues / rock on the light to mid od side. for higher gain i tend to like a slightly scooped sound which the bd does, but it gets too harsh at higher gains so the combo isnt really great for higher gain stuff. but blues blues/rock and cleanish stuff theyre good.
oh and i did the more bass keeley mod on the bd, its an improvement , not a ton more bass but plenty for my use.

My vote's for a vox valve tone into a zendrive. I presume any tube screamer will work so that's what I'm currently putting together in one box

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think the Tube screamer has the approval of the forum. I'm still not sure about the other now. I'm thinking about going into distortion territory with a Plexidrive. If not that, then an OCD. And some kind of simple boost controlled by a toggle like a Microdrive or a LPB

I use a Tube Screamer into a Valve Caster.

Where can I get a 12au7 for cheap?   I have a few 12ax7s around but I imagine they wouldn't work for the valvecaster.

Meh... I'm impatient... I've decided on the Tubescreamer derivative and the Wampler Plexidrive. Both on vero. Layouts by Harald Sabro.

And they both fit on one peice of vero with a lil modifying  ;D  not a single column to spare.

I vote for TS->Valvecaster...in my case, Bad Monkey into my VC. VC as clean boost, BM as mild overdrive, or both for more intense crunch - very versatile setup.

Just build two Blues breaker circuits , this is kinda sorta the mojo behind the Analog man King of Tone pedal everyone goes crazy for !!

Thanks, but I've already started on the TS and the Plexidrive, and I also have enough room for a micro drive with optional clipping all on one piece of vero.

Silly question     Since there's a protection diode on both layouts I only need one of them, right?

correct.

You should build a valvecaster, they're simple and sound awesome!  I use old RCA tubes from ebay, they're as cheap as new production stuff (~$10) and sound a million times better.

That doesn't look like a Valve Caster! :D

I don't have any 12au7s on hand. Unless you wanna be a super bro and send me one ;D
