Title: Engraving School for Stompboxes
Post by: amptramp on September 24, 2013, 08:58:23 AM
I don't recall seeing this referenced before, but this site:

http://www.engravingschool.com/private/transfers.htm

has some interesting information on nine methods of getting an image transferred onto a box or blank circuit board for etching.  It might be a worthwhile addition to our arsenal of graphics transfer methods.  In particular, I had never seen the shellac method used before and it looks simpler than a lot of processes.  I also don't recall anyone mentioning smoke prints.  There are methods that do not involve heating with an iron, so some of this may be easier than what we have been discussing in various threads here.

Quotethe shellac method

Easier on the environment and our bodies, and cleans up with warm water too!

Thanks for this!  I've been looking for other ways to create graphics for my pedals.

Feels like some of those methods would work for putting black text on painted enclosures too. Maybe even colored with the inkjet method.
