In what?

The general idea of opamps is that the amp hardly matters, overall action is set by the parts around the opamp.

To a point. If an opamp is slow, or leaky, or has offset, it can't do fast or high-impedance or precision so well.

The AD712 looks to me a *lot* like a TL072.

It has low offset voltage and high DC gain. Both are critical in some data acquisition systems. Less so in most audio, and hardly-at-all in stompbox work.

But maybe you are doing something that does need a semi-precision opamp?

If you are going for the zendrive,tl072 will do just fine, maybe a tad warmer sound.
