is there a better schematic/vero to layout ..its too much for me to attempt a breadboard ..as i still cannot get the echoplex pre amp to work ( spent 3 hours last night on BB arranging parts , the echoplex will not work for some reason)

The answer to your switch question is....yes.
Just don't connect anything to the other side of the switch. That will be you open position as in the SPST.
oh wow..thats a schematic designed in a way I can actually interpret it a little bit..I might be able to even breadboard that one with the way the designer has laid it out ..the ones I kept getting from google searches were very odd and difficult looking.
so leave a end open? its has connections SW1 and SW2

Lightsound. Studying the data sheets for your transistors will tell you the pinout V the transistor physical orientation. Make sure the data sheet is not showing the transistors from below too.
There's some great stuff by RG about what each part does in some familiar circuits if your just learning. Start with simple stuff. Fuzz faces, treble boosters, boosters etc.
Ps the way I remember if a bjt is npn or pnp is simple for me.

It's a good skill to have for auditioning circuits and well worth persisting with imo.

lsg - I'm not sure, but isn't that 22k supposed to have 9V at one end, and the tropical fish AND transistor/fet (I dunno, what circuit is that?) at the other? I see red and orange connecting to one end, and the fish at the other.
I think you are listening to the 9V supply wired as is.

orange was connecting the drain to the 22k then to 9v whilst the other leg went through a .1, 220k to ground then omitted the 100k like suggested, then to my green output
there are ten pieces ..I have connected them almost every way possible ..I am convinced the layout is wrong at this point ..if I can p2p a 5 piece buffer, a ten piece pre amp should be the logical next step ..lol . nothing works. i been trying to BB this for 2--3 weeks now
the jumpers go to my second board where I have +/- and I/O connected to the 2nd BB and then to a make shift pedal enclosure with a bypass etc to simulate a pedal to test through my guitar and amp ..so I am just jumping from on board to the other for easier connections in and out
What FET are you using and do you have the datasheet to establish the pinout?

ive tried a 2n5457, 2n5458. the pinout is coming from pictures abroad the nets and the chinese tester gadget
It looks like there are a few errors on the breadboard. Here is a quick sketch- think of each square as a hole on the breadboard, I made a dot on a few, but look at this and see if it helps you translate the schematic to breadboard (this is going strictly by the schematic posted by Duck Arse today)

orlright, I'll have another go. assuming you're using 9V and not 18V, you don't want any of yr fet pins reading 9V, your last posted. reguarding this pic, as shown. IF I'm reading it right .....

shift the orange wire on"F8" to "F15", the 22k end of the fish. I think that should be it, less work that I thort. what voltages now?
