Title: Removing gate from MXR Blow Torch
Post by: markosis on November 11, 2015, 07:07:26 AM
The MXR Blow Torch is a gated fuzz. I love it's inherent fuzz sound, but the gating makes it useless for my purposes. I would like to remove the gate, or find someone to do it for me. Can a noise gate circuit be removed without everything going haywire? I only want the fuzz sound to go haywire, not anything else. ;)

Without knowing anything at all about the MXR, I will just warn that the thing may oscillate like a mad bastard, especially at higher gain/fuzz settings, without the gate - that is likely the reason they added one to the unit. The Fuzz factory deals with this by having a gate (threshold) control so you can dial in the right amount of gate per your taste and the drive level of the unit.

I should add a gate control then. I'll have to find someone to do this for me. I'm new around here, so if anyone can point me in the direction of a good pedal mod person that would be helpful.
