Title: Panther Distortion & ID assistance on an unknown pedal pcb
Post by: Gainiac on March 24, 2017, 05:45:51 PM
Hello gang, first post but been visiting the site for a few months now and can't thank you guys enough for all the assistance you've kindly passed along through your posts.  Anyway, have 5 completed builds under my belt so not completely green but am now in need of some more experienced eyes than my own.  Yesterday a friend found these in a box under the bench at his shop and knowing I've been fooling around with pedals, he gave them to me for free.  I'd like to think I've made a fair attempt at researching these on my own before turning to you guys but unfortunately google is coming up blank on the few identifying marks on the boards and I will admit I'm not even sure what type of effect they are, let alone a make/model.  Thought maybe someone might recognize them or at least find the circuit/parts familiar so any ideas or insight would be appreciated, thanks.  FYI, these are both at least 5-10 years old, possibly older.

Interesting parts-wise, the green board has 2 IC's, a TLO22 & MC14007 and a couple unusual transistors, MSPF912 & SF51234.  The trim pots are labeled: Compress, Expander, Decay Time ...maybe some type of jfet based compressor?

The brown board has a Sharp IR94558 opamp and a few K30 transistors, everything else is fairly unremarkable on it.
EDIT: Identified as a Panther Distortion / Locobox Mysto-Dysto

Thanks in advance for any help!

The brown one looks like it's from a LocoBox or similar.

Your info was spot-on, took a bit of digging but I'm thinking it's a Panther Distortion ...which shares the same PCB with the Locobox Mysto-Dysto.

For future reference here's some wiring info I found...
