they used SAD1024 as MXR did in  their M117,
then, yes you can use another 1024 stages BBD instead, without adjusting clock frequency to achieve the same delay time.

I'll just mention that the BF-1 has conflicting information aboutsupply voltage.  The service manual says 12V and the pedal itself says 9V.  It sounds a lot better with 12v.  Not because of the difference between powering the audio path with 12, rather than 9, but because the sweep range of the clock is better with 12V.  Much wider sweep.  Not A/DA wide, but wider.
