Post by: gcwills on April 20, 2018, 08:48:47 PM
Hi, I have noticed that all of my posted schematics and photos have disappeared from my posts.
eg http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=118048.msg1105103#msg1105103
Any ideas??

Here's how to restore them:

1)  Get the old links

a) Edit  the forum page or view page source, or, save the page then open it with a text editor,
or save the page rename the extension to .txt and open it with a text editor.

(BTW: With Firefox you can go Page Info -> Media  then find the postimg.org links
without needing to see the page source.)

b) Search for an identifying string near your image.
eg "Here is the perfboard installed in a 1590B"

You can also search for "postimg.org" and work out which image you are looking for.

c) Find the links which have "postimg.org"

There's usually two links for each image.  The first is for the thumbnail and the second is the actual image link.

In your case we have two images,
https://s26.postimg.org/3st3rby0l/FVerb_final.jpg
https://s26.postimg.org/i0isfzaph/18x22_sans_IC_1.png

2) Restore the link by changing  ".org"  to ".cc"

The restored links are,
https://s26.postimg.cc/3st3rby0l/FVerb_final.jpg
https://s26.postimg.cc/i0isfzaph/18x22_sans_IC_1.png

Thanks Rob for your help!
BTW, what is the issue with postimage? Has it gone the way of Photobucket??

Looks like different circumstances.  For some reason the domain postimage.org got locked (perhaps due to a content report issue). So whoever is running it moved to postimage.cc.  There was an obscure message on postimage.org when it happened.
