Title: Boss TR2
Post by: Curby on July 09, 2018, 06:48:49 AM
Hi,

i want to build a boss TR2 and want to change some parts of the schematic i found. First of all, it should be true bypass, so i cut off (red..) all parts of the boss-bypass.

The second thing is, that there a multiple voltages. I changed everyone to the +4.5V.

Will my changes work? I think so :).

Pin1 of Depth of course needs also 4.5V. Will it work with an CA3080?

Looking along the audio path most of your changes look fine; pulling out the flip-flop and the FET switches. I'd leave the input buffer in though, because it looks to me like that next stage has a pretty low input impedance. After all, why else use 10uF caps there? If the impedance was large, 100n would do.

Using a CA3080 isn't going to work without significant changes. I can't say what exactly because I've never seen that thing Boss are using before.

To be honest, if you change the thing to a CA3080 along with your LFO changes too, what you've got isn't really a TR2 in any meaningful sense. You just designed a 3080-based OTA tremolo instead. Which is fine, obviously - you'll fit right in around here ;)
